July 9, 2025
At Impulse Generator Fund, we keep a close eye on what’s going on in the world of trends and innovation. That’s why we’ve prepared one more great article for you to know more about the top talent shift. The article focuses on AI, cloud computing, clean energy, and venture capital. Their signal is more than just career changes. It shows exactly where the startup world is moving.
New Leaders in AI, Cloud, and Energy
Everything started with Vasi Philomin, a former VP at Amazon Web Services. Recently, he has joined Siemens as Executive VP of Data and AI. Philomin is known for leading Amazon Bedrock — a platform for generative AI. His deep expertise in bringing AI with real-world applications made a demand for applied AI systems grow. He calls it “Physical AI.” It’s all about AI systems that sense, reason, and act.
“As industries evolve, the real breakthroughs will come from systems that don’t just analyze data but interact with the world — systems that sense, reason, and act,” Philomin said on LinkedIn. “This is Physical AI, and Siemens is uniquely positioned to lead it.”
Meanwhile, Donald Thompson, who is an experienced AI engineer, has returned to Microsoft after leading initiatives at LinkedIn and Splunk. He’s also known for launching and scaling startups like Maana. This emphasizes the value of deep technical leadership in growth-stage ventures.
Strategic Shifts in Public Sector Tech
The next talent is Joseph Williams, who was recently honored with the Public Policy Champion for Innovation Award. Nowadays, he is the director of the Washington State Broadband Office. You might ask, what’s his mission here? Fast-track the state’s $1.2 billion broadband rollout amid evolving federal regulations. Such a talent shift shows tech startups that public-sector partnership is a new way to obtain new opportunities.
“It’s a critical time for the WSBO, and I am excited to join and support this important team and their vital mission of bringing internet to all in Washington,” Williams said in a statement. “My plan is to ensure we can meet the upcoming federal deadlines and award funding to broadband providers across the state as quickly as possible.”
Energy and Legal Tech Talent Shift
But are there any changes in the energy sector? Well, yes, there are some crucial changes too. Recently, NuScale Power welcomed Shahram Ghasemian as Chief Legal Officer. He has deep experience at the U.S. Department of Energy and Centrus Energy. Such a talent shift in the energy sector shows that compliance and regulatory navigation are one of keys in clean-tech ventures.
Startup Builders in Motion
And what about fresh energy? Recently, Sharan Jhangiani, previously at Yoodli, has become the CEO of OnePager. OnePager is a NYC startup that needs funding and a capital raise. His track record with student-run incubators shows how grassroots innovation can turn into real-world impact.
Another talent in the industry is Ryan Kiskis, formerly of AWS and Google Cloud. What’s more, he has recently joined the Allen Institute for AI as Director of Strategic Partnerships. One of his main missions in this position is building open and impactful AI. This step is all about our vision in IGF. First and foremost, it’s about collaboration between startups, industry, investors and academia.
“In this new role, I’ll be building partnerships with leading public, corporate and startup orgs to accelerate the deployment of AI – AI that is truly open, transparent, grounded in science, and aspirational enough to change the world,” Kiskis said on LinkedIn.
